Community Conservation

When you think of community conservation you might not think about a suburb like Elmhurst.  However, we have many species of plants, insects, birds, and mammals that need conservation.  The kind of animal that gets the most attention might be the coyote or foxes that we occasionally see roaming the streets.  However, we may not notice the absence of some other important creatures, important pollinators that are disappearing and need protection.  We can make a difference by advocating for endangered species and restoring their habitat.    Another example of an action that we could take is planting native plant species for native pollinators.  To see a full list of endangered species in Illinois you can download the pdf titled Endangered Species of Illinois by the USFW.
